|Our neckties (cravatte) are received direct from the factory in Como, Italy, a city renowned for its silk (seta). The ties come in three categories; CLASSSIC (CLASSICO), LUXURY (DI LUSSO) and SIX-FOLD (SEI-PIEGHE). These categories not only reflect the relative quality (qualità) level, but also the price (prezzo). Most of the ties are 100% silk (seta); however, some neckties were selected specifically for their design and if they are not 100% silk, the specific fiber content will be included in the description.
Our LUXURY (Three Fold) and SIX-FOLD ties all exhibit the characteristics of high quality Italian ties as described below.
- MULTI-FOLD: Three-Fold, Four-Fold, Five-Fold, Six-Fold and Seven-Fold. A tie which is hand folded typically has no interlining (a piece of material inserted between the front and back which gives the tie body) and is called a multi-fold tie. A multi-fold tie is considered to be of the highest quality in the necktie industry.
- SADDLE STITCHING: A visible hand stitching on the rear of a necktie which holds the parts together. This a another sign of exclusivity and superior quality. It is often made of a contrasting color within the tie.
- SELF TIPPED: A tie which uses the same silk fabric on the front, back and even inside, rather than a material of lesser quality.
